We sincerely appreciate all the support and encouragement we've received over the last few months. Unfortunately, Schantz MakerSpace remains shutdown due to the Coronavirus Pandemic. We had hoped things would improve enough that we could offer classes again in 2021, but that has not been the case. We are a volunteer based group. The coronavirus has affected many of us and our families. It is for that reason that we are unable to schedule classes at this time. Once again, we hope for things to improve and try to get things back up and running in 2022. Sincerely,The Schantz MakerSpace Team
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Schantz MakerSpace has been shut down over the last year while we wait for conditions to improve. We are thrilled to see vaccines being distributed and the number of contracted cases continuing to go down in Ohio. However, we feel a strong sense of responsibility to our community and will be cautious about restarting activities. If things continue to improve, our hope is we will once again be able to offer our workshops in Fall 2021.
This March (2020), Schantz MakerSpace is offering an exclusive build class at Wayne Center for the Arts. COLOSSUS MICRO! Snowmen aren’t the only thing you can build in the winter! Schantz MakerSpace traveled to Orrville High School this morning for a 3-D printer build. We had 13 students from 4 different school districts (Orrville, Waynedale, Rittman and Norwayne) coming together to put Creality Ender 3 machines together from kits. By the end of the session, every student had fully constructed their machines and were running test prints. Now they each have a machine that can bring their imagination and creative designs to life. Special thanks to Dr. Tim Vierheller for hosting us in the Orrville Maker Lab.

Time to fly!Yesterday we joined students from the OHS Maker Club for some flight training with drones. Our Schantz MakerSpace volunteers walked students through a "How NOT to Crash" course and discussed the ways drones are helping to solve problems in today's world. Then students got to test their skills on our obstacle courses and joined in a team effort to solve a "Toxic Waste Mission". Careers involving this skill set are growing in number each year. The best way to grow your skills is to get out and play! Looking forward to coming back next week for a session on programming the drones for autonomous flight. Special Thanks to Orrville High School and Dr. Tim Vierheller for helping to make this happen!

Excited to reveal a new video on Schantz MakerSpace and the Maker Movement! Get an inside look at the excitement and energy taking place right here in Wayne County, Ohio. Our maker community continues to grow in members, projects and missions. In just our first year as a non-profit organization, we've offered 20 workshops, serving more than 250 students. We've built over 100 3-D Printers, 30 computerized lights displays and 20 CNC Routers. We not only built the machines, but we taught the students how they work, how to use the software, and how to incorporate machines into their businesses. We served four different school districts, bringing our programs into the schools to teach the next generation of makers, and will expand to include more schools next year. Join us and be part of the movement in 2019. What will you create? Special thanks to the folks from MAGNET and Akron Video Makers for their hard work on the video.
Students worked with 3-D pens and small motors to make some jittering/skittering creatures. Colorful scorpions, bees and spiders were dancing their way across desktops.
