We have something special planned for our next Maker Monday meeting. It is scheduled for Monday Dec, 16, 2024 7-9 pm It will be held at Schantz Organ Co. 626 South Walnut St, in Orrville. On the south east side of our building is the employee parking lot. Park there and enter the building at the south east corner entrance door. Look for the sign. We'll have people there to get you inside to the first floor meeting place. This meeting is going to be a demonstration of our 5'x10' CNC woodworking router, and our new 55"x 36" , 100 watt laser engraver. Rob Baumgartner will be there to demonstrate both machines. We will make and engrave wood cell phone recharger stands and give them away to anyone who comes. In addition we will talk about upcoming classes. We hope to see you there.

June 22 Python on Microcontrollers class. Python, the most widely used programming language today, is essential for desktop, web, AI, and microcontroller development. This one-morning Saturday class is perfect for makers with some programming experience, offering an introduction to using Python to interface microcontrollers with lights, temperature sensors, microphones, and other external devices. The featured presenter is Elliott Liggett, who will present on and demonstrate cloud chamber muon detection.

Kevin Armstrong has been building a system for autonomous driving of a tractor for agricultural field work. He’s planning to present on his progress to date, which includes recent testing. 3D printing is being used at OARDC for various purposes. This includes emulating damaged soybean leaves in the entomology area. An invitation has been extended to Suranga Basnagala for a presentation on this topic.

Rob Baumgartner will show a video about a way to build holiday lite displays. This looks like a fun interesting project for us to undertake. We can talk about ways we might use our existing supplies and machines to create kits that students could use to build these displays. In the latter part of the meeting, we've set aside time to assist with any machinery troubles you might have. August 21, 2023 is the regular date for us to have our monthly meeting. 7-9 pm. However we have decided to use this meeting as a work night for our volunteer instructors to assemble and test the robotic arms we purchased for an up-coming class We will have work tables set up and we will be building the arms. All makers are always welcome to our meetings. If you would like to come and help out, feel free. We just want you to know that this will not be one of our more typical meetings. We expect to return to our normal format in September.
There will be no July Maker Monday meeting. Work on your personal projects to share with the Maker group when Maker Monday meetings resume.

June 19, 2023, 7-9 pm. 13875 Cleveland Road Creston, Ohio 44217 Recently, Rolf Nelson and Vic drove up to Microcenter in Cleveland to purchase the latest FLSUN V400 Delta style 3-d printer. It is huge and it is fast! 300 x 300 x 410 mm. Rolf has it all set up and operating. He will show us its features and we will have a chance to learn all about it.
The next class that will be offered by Schantz MakerSpace is a hands on, active learning experience building your own tabletop 3-D printer from a kit. The class will be held on June 3rd and 10th, 2023 from 8 am till noon at the Romich MakerSpace (13875 Cleveland Rd, Creston, OH 44217). For a class fee of $250 you will receive your own Creality Ender 3 ver.2 3-D printer kit. Class size will be limited to the first 9 participants who sign up. The classes sell out fast. The May Maker Monday meeting will be held at the Wayne County Children's STEAM lab on route 30 in Dalton next to the Dutch Kitchen restaurant. May 15, 2023, 7 pm. Our host will be Lorin Colon who is the Director of the Playlab. The Playlab personnel are working to complete the lab and we will have a chance to view the building, hear about their plans for the future and see their progress.
